A friend of mine texted me one night and invited me to try a not-so-new coffee shop near our place. Since we both don't have work during Sundays and drinking coffee will not last for an hour, we decided to explore a nearby town, Angono. She asked me if I could look for a good place to visit there then I suggested Angono-Binangonan Petroglyphs since I've been so curious about this place.
Angono is known as "Arts Capital of the Philippines" which was the hometown of two national artists, Lucio San Pedro for music and Carlos "Botong" Francisco for arts. The Angono-Binangonan Petroglyphs is considered a highly significant cultural landmark because it is the oldest work of art in the Philippines, dating back to circa 3000 B.C. These carvings where discovered in 1965 by National Artist Carlos “Botong” Francisco when he lead a troop of boy scouts in the mountainside of Angono and Binangonan.

How to get there:
By Public Transportation
Option 1:
From Shaw Boulevard., ride an Angono-Binangonan bound jeepney. Ask the driver to drop you off to Scrapyard Cafe & Restaurant. Hire a tricycle to take you to Petroglyphs. According to one of the drivers we have talked to the minimum charged is Php200 for 2 persons (1 way) but only few to none tricycle would agree to take you to Petroglyphs due to steep uphill road which a lot of challenge to them.
Option 2:
From Shaw Boulevard., ride an Antipolo-Tanay bound jeepney. Ask the driver to drop you off to Shopwise Antipolo. Look for the Andoks store (almost adjacent to Shopwise). There's a tricycle terminal bound to Thunderbird. Just tell the driver to drop you off to Petroglyphs. Not sure though how much the minimum fare but I highly recommend this route since this is not as steep as the one coming from Angono town.
By Private Transportation
Option 1:
From Shaw Boulevard, take the route being used by Angono-Binangonan jeepneys. Turn right from Ortigas Avenue Extension road when you reach KayTikling then take that is the Manila East Road until you reach a fork. Take the road to the left heading to Binangonan for taking the road to the right leads to the town proper. Following road signs going to Thunderbird resort would be your best landmarks. From the highway turn left to Col. Guido Road which is a steep uphill ascent with sharp curves and blind corners. You will reach a wide road, Eastridge Avenue. After passing a short tunnel, watch out for a big cave/tunnel mouth to your left, that’s the jump off point.
Option 2:
From Shaw Boulevard, take the route being used by Antipolo-Tanay bound jeepney. When you reached the Shopwise Antipolo, turn right then go straight ahead as that road will lead you to Thunderbird resort where Petroglyphs is just nearby. (Recommended route)
